The Money Smart Kid and Money Smart Teen Essay Contests — sponsored by the Iowa Bankers Association in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago — will not be held in 2022.
In 2022, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago announced that it would not include essay contest questions as part of its Money Smart programming. Due to this decision, the Iowa Money Smart Essay Contests will not be conducted.
Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago officials said they hope to bring back the essay component with future Money Smart Week programming, but they gave no indication of when it would be reinstated. The Iowa Bankers Association will continue to monitor program developments and will re-evaluate the Money Smart Essay Contests if or when they return as part of Money Smart Week.
