All 333 schools of the Iowa Public School System has been mandated to teach financial education starting in the 2020-2021 school year. The FDIC will host a webinar for all school districts. This event will outline multiple financial education curriculum’s including the FDIC Money Smart curriculum. FDIC staff will outline multiple other resources including the Teacher Online Resource Center, in-school banking resources and the Money Smart financial education curriculum. The FDIC will engage all Iowa School Districts in a partnership with the Iowa Department of Education in which FDIC staff will market this event and FDIC resources. The partnership is ongoing and will help to transition this effort to insured account outreach and credit education in the future.
