Money Smart Week
Money Smart Week (MSW) offers about 180 events developed to help Iowans of all ages better manage their finances. These financial literacy seminars are free, open to the public, and are educational, not sales pitches. Over 200 partnering organizations include financial institutions, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and community groups across Iowa.
Money Smart Week is: April 22-29, 2017
One statewide MSW initiative is the Money Smart Kid Essay Contest. The Iowa Bankers Association is pleased to sponsor this annual contest in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
- One student will be named Money Smart Kid and receive a $1,000 award.
- The winner and finalists may be invited to read their essays at one or more Money Smart Week events.
- Students in grades 7-11 may enter the contest by answering the question below, using no more than 400 words.

The 2017 question is: Do you think there is a connection between financial health and physical health? Please explain your answer. What can you do to become more financially healthy?
The deadline to submit an essay is March 24, 2017.
A winner will be selected by April 19, 2017.
